About Theta Tau...

...founded on the 15th of October, 1904, Theta Tau remains the oldest and largest professional engineering fraternity in the United States. The organization has its roots at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities where it was founded by four aspiring engineers as the "Society of Hammer and Tongs." The name was later changed to "Theta Tau" at the fraternity's first national convention in 1911.

The purpose of Theta Tau is to develop and maintain a high standard of professional interest among its members, and to unite them in a strong bond of fraternal fellowship. To do this, the fraternity aims to recruit developing engineers that share the core values of Honest, Ethical, Dependable, Trustworthy, and Respectful.

Since its birth, Theta Tau has grown into a diverse organization celebrating a membership of nearly 30,000 men and women representing more than 40 campuses nationwide.

About  XChapter...

...Xi Chapter was proudly founded on the 13th of January, 1923 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

How is Theta Tau Xi Chapter different from other organizations/fraternities?

·         Diverse Group: Theta Tau has a variety of people; different engineering majors, male and female, freshman through seniors and people from around the globe.

·          Alumni Connections: Our Alumni often appear at football games, homecoming and banquettes. In thanking us, Alumni send members emails for employment opportunities. They also connect us to the “real world” by sharing their knowledge and experiences out in the industry. Our alumni give us a great opportunity to use our networking skills in a less intimidating environment.

·         Strength in Numbers: How do you survive a campus like UW? Having other members in current classes to study with or talking with an older member who has taken the class before helps out a lot.

·         Brotherly Love: Xi members have a strong bond of fraternal fellowship. In English this means that we look out for each other like brothers.  We take road trips together, study together, and most of us live in the same house. Each event or meeting we have becomes a gathering of friends.
